AN ARDROSSAN laundrette is looking to add another accolade to their collection following their latest award nomination.

Sylvia’s Soapy Suds on Glasgow Street enjoyed a highly succesful year in 2022 after owner Dora Kane and her team were named Laundry Business of the Year at the Ayrshire Business Awards last year.

Not only that, but the team went onto collect the same accolade at the national awards ceremony - meaning they could call themselves the best laundry business in Scotland.

Now, they have set their sites on retaining their crown after they were once again nominated for the Ayrshire Business Awards.

This year they have not one but two nominations - one in the 'best laundry business' category, the other for the 'best cleaning business'.

Dora says the firm has seen a "big boom" in business since its 2022 awards success.

New staff have been taken on, and there have been new customers aplenty.

"All the girls work their hardest and we just keep doing what we are doing," she added.

"Fingers crossed we can win again. We can only try our hardest and keep up the service that everybody likes.”

And the service is one that has certainly been popular, with no review they have received below five stars.

Dora’s mum, Sylvia, took over the business nearly 11 years ago after her own mother was taken into residential care.

Since then, Sylvia has passed the business on to her daughter - but she still can’t help but come in and offer a hand.

Sylvia’s has become a cherished feature of the Ardrossan community, and to many it can be so much more than laundrette.

Now, customers have a chance to show their appreciation to the business, by giving them their vote ahead of the Ayrshire Business Awards at the end of July.
