PLANS to install electric vehicle charging points in a retail park in North Ayrshire have been given the green light.

A total of eight charging points are due to be installed after North Ayrshire Council gave the go-ahead to applicants InstaVolt to install the chargers at the Hawkhill retail park in Stevenston.

The eight charging points will replace 14 existing spaces at the top of the car park on Kilwinning Road (on the right of the above image) - directly across from B&M and McDonald's.

One of the eight EV charging bays will be fully accessible, allowing for unrestricted access to one EV charger on all three sides of the parking bay.

The chargers which are being installed will allow for similtaneous charging - meaning that two vehicles can use one charging point at the same time.

The application to creat the charging points was submitted to North Ayrshire Council as planning authority back in June.

It was approved this month, with no attached conditions.

The application can be viewed in full online via the council's online planning portal, searching for reference 23/00439/PP.
