A FORMER Salvation Army Centre in Saltcoats has been listed for sale.

The charity had previously had a church base on Manse Street in the town - and a presence in Saltcoats for around 138 years.

However, at the end of April this year they left the premises, ending their spell in the town which began in 1885.

Now, the former charity premises has been listed for sale, with estate agents Graham and Sibbald looking for a new owner for the church building.

The property has been listed for an asking price of offers over £50,000 being considered for the historic building.

It is unclear who exactly could take up the building, though the agent states that the building has potential for a change of use - subject to planning.

There are only a few spaces within the property, which comprises a main hall, meeting room, office, kitchen and WC / disabled WC facilities.

The location may be attractive to investors, with the church building situated close to the heart of Saltcoats town centre - and directly next to Sainsbury's car park.

The property listing can be viewed in full online at tinyurl.com/ManseStreet.

The nearest Salvation Army centre in North Ayrshire is now Kilbirnie - following the closure of this Saltcoats premises earlier this year.

But the charity does still have charity shops within Saltcoats town which remain in operation.
