It has been 11-months in the making, but Kilwinning Main Street has a Post Office franchise once again.

Today marked the official first day of business at the new location in the town the former Seymour Discounts store.

As the doors swung open this morning, the business displayed a rebranded sign proudly boasting the name 'Saymour Post Office'.

It was a hectic but exciting opening day for the shop's owners and staff, who shared their excitement about launched, but urged customers to be patient as they adjust to working in the franchise.

A post on social media said: "We are so excited. Please remember be kind - we are still new and learning.

"We are going to do our absolute best on every transaction we do but we may need ask for help, refer too our notes/training ."

It was a long journey to bring the Post Office back to Main Street, one which began in January when the previous franchise closed.

It shut alongside the former McColl's store closed under the plans unveiled by Morrisons, which bought its rival for £190m in a rescue deal in May, 2022.

Until now the nearest alternative Post Office facility was located on Sundrum Place in Pennyburn.

More information on the new Post Office facility can be found on the Seymour Post Office Facebook page.
