A MAN was rescued from a blaze in Kilwinning last week.

Just after 9pm on August 12, teams from Kilwinning and Dreghorn stations attended reports of a house fire in Dirrans Terrace, Kilwinning.

Fire & Rescue Operations Control Room received repeat calls to the incident from members of the public stating that there were people trapped in the blaze.

On arrival at the scene the Incident Commander immediately tasked breathing apparatus teams to undertake a search of the building.

Within three minutes of arrival they had located and rescued an adult male from the risk area suffering from moderate smoke inhalation.

The man was removed from the first floor of the building.

Meanwhile, additional teams extinguished the fire on the ground floor and simultaneously continued to search to ensure no other casualties were trapped within.

Station Manager Derek Davidson said: “As a result of the incident a total of three adult males suffered from a combination of slight to moderate smoke inhalation.

“One of those males had to be rescued from the building by fire crews.

“All three were removed to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.”

The incident is currently being investigated by Police Scotland.
