ARDROSSAN Winton Rovers have been eyeing title glory all season - and champagne corks could be popping for a second time round this Saturday.

Gavin Friels' side were celebrating when they secured promotion from the West of Scotland Football League's Second Division a few weeks ago with victory over Larkhall Thistle.

And this weekend - subject to results elsewhere - they could add the icing on the cake when they play host to Kilsyth Rangers at Winton Park.

Victory for Winton on Saturday would mean they can no longer be caught by Vale of Clyde in the race for the title.

But to be absolutely sure of being crowned champions this Saturday, Winton also need Cumbernauld United to drop points away to Larkhall.

The Guy's Meadow side have five games to play, against Winton's three - but while they could, mathematically, still pip Winton to the trophy, they also need to win all five of their games and turn around a goal difference of 31 in Winton's favour in the process.

If both Winton and Cumbernauld do win this Saturday, that means that Winton will secure the title if they win their last home match of the season, against Caledonian Locomotive on May 4, no matter what Cumbernauld can do.

Regardless of results elsewhere, Winton Park certainly seems to be the place to be come Saturday and the club are hoping for a big turnout to drive the team on.

Kick-off against Kilsyth on Saturday is at 2pm.
